About Eastchester Salvage

Real furniture. Real art. Your home and office should be as authentic as you are. Our dedicated finders go to barn sales, wander the thrifts and climb into dumpsters. You just have to drop by our gallery in downtown Bakersfield on 19th Street or look at the website. Why live in the ordinary?

Wednesday to Sunday 10 AM to 4 PM or by appointment. We don’t ship or move heavy stuff. We can help you figure this out.

The Gallery

Located at 1231 19th Street near L Street, Eastchester Salvage is located in a 125 year old building in downtown Bakersfield. Originally the Lutz Drug Store, with the Willow Hotel and then the Arthur Hotel upstairs, the commercial block also featured a pool hall, a grocery store, and restaurants. This building was also on the dividing line of the old and new Chinatowns in the 19th and early 20th century.

In 1952, an earthquake took out the top half of the building. For the last 30 years of its life, the block leased to pawn shops, clothing stores and an X rated theater. With the redevelopment of the Eastchester Antiques and Art District, new restaurants and apartments are bringing new life back.
